My Makeup Stash: Primers

Assalamualaikum and hello (I should change, but I'm lazy) muh pretty ladiezzz!

Yayyyy this is my makeup stash post no 4. Weee I'm so excited. Belum masuk bronzers & highlighters lagi sebab... Entah. Bronzer takat ni ada 2 je. Hahahaha. Still tengah mengumpul lagi LULZ.

I'm so sorry for the delay. I have had a whole day activity yesterday so I was kinda tired... And yeah. Ok.

Let's talk about the clear silicon-based primers that I have. I'm starting with these because these primers do not work for me. Everytime I put them on, my face will break out. Like bad. I think I'm allergic to silicone based ones but surprisingly for Benefit Porefessional & the Sephora one I did not break out that bad. But the Benefit one, adalah tumbuh sekor macam tu je but it wasn't as bad as these 3 primers. But I know other people love them, but I don't. So yeah.

Texture: Clear silicone-y gel
Price: RM29.90 (Watson's)

Surprise... Yes, I cannot use this Baby Skin that people have been raving bout. This primer is not oily girls friendly at all. It makes my skin oilier and my foundation just not last that long because of the oil. I'm not bashing this, it does what it says, blurring out my pores but it didn't workout for my skintype.

Texture: Clear silicone-y gel
Price: RM39

I only use it twice and it broke me out badly. This primer actually made me realize that my skin does not like the silicone-y thing. LOL

Texture: Clear silicone-y gel
Price: $14 in the US (bought it around RM50)

This was the first primer I ever bought. I thought it was okay, the texture is less oilier than the other two. But again, it just didn't work out for me.

Okay done. Now onto my other primers~~~

Texture: I don't know the texture is weird, feels like a dry deodorant. Ya know?
Price: RM49.70 (Watson's)

I do not really know how to explain the texture of this primer. This primer feels like it's going to clog your pores to be honest, but I don't think it does that. Anyways, if you have super oily skin, I would not recommend it. It does not hold your oils at all! Your foundation also can be patchy a bit because this primer... I don't know. Wow. Really hard to explain the texture. Well, you guys can go try the tester and see lah. It is a bit pricey because it only has like 15ml of product. That's like mouse's poop. I don't think I will repurchase this. Look, I love Bourjois foundations, but this product does not work for me.

Texture: Liquidy gel
Price: RM22.50 (Watson's)

I have talked about this so called primer in my first impression post. Go check it out. This "primer" makes my makeup last a little bit longer than any average primer does. Plus I don't look too oily so yeah. I REALLY LOVE THIS. Actually you can skip your moisturizer and use this as your moisturizer and primer so it wouldn't be too dewy ya know. BUT I LOVE THIS STUFF SO MUCH. MY SAVIOR

Texture: Basically like a moisturizer, hydrating
Price: RM24.90 (Guardian's)

This primer is not really a primer. More like a tinted green moisturizer. It's okay lah, memang if you apply this your face will look pale. I don't know, I don't love it, I don't hate it. Oh and it smells like sweaty ass. Really bad. Blerghhh. But it does neutralize the redness on your face.

Texture: Also like a moisturizer, hydrating
Price: (Watson's)

I only use this kalau I'm going out in the sun coz the SPF is pretty high so yeah. I don't love or hate it. So yeah.

Texture: Tinted, silicone-y stuff
Price: RM125 at Sephora, RM130 on Luxola (I bought before GST, it was RM115)

This is totally my fave face primer. Even though it is silicone-based primer but it's not that silicone-y ya know? I actually posted a full review, you can check it out here. So you guys can just read the whole details there ok. I LOVE IT.

Texture: Tinted, silicone-y stuff
Price: RM56

I have posted a full review on this Sephora primer here. I think it is a dupe for the Benefit Porefessional. Price also quite cheap lah. Even Revlon punya primer pon almost 65 bucks if I'm not mistaken so if you wanna buy Porefessional but you don't wanna spend so much, buy this. It's actually good.

Recent purchase

Texture: Very grippy? I don't know man LOL
Price: RM170 (I got RM50 Zalora voucher, so I decided to buy this LOL)

I haven't really use this much but I will post a full review on this. It is quite mattifying but I have like super oily skin so still oily through out the day. But ya know. I wanna try some more then I will let you know once I posted the full review.

Other than that, I think I only had used up 1 primer, the Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer. I actually love it even though it did not really help with my oily skin ya know. I would really love to try smoothing primer from Bourjois or L'Oreal one.

As I mentioned, I do have oily skin so I am totally depending on primers to control my oils. If I apply foundation without primers, my pore will be visible and my oils are just out of control. LOL. My top 3 primers, of course the Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, Benefit Porefessional and Sephora Prep & Perfect; Pore & Fine Line Filler.

Look, I don't know what kind of primers are suitable for each of you. It is actually ikut your preferences. Some oily skin peeps love to look dewy so they're using the hydrating ones. Some don't. You do you. Just know that some of us maybe allergic to some ingredients and stuff... So yeah. Just beware of that.

So yeah. That's it guys. I hope you guys find this helpful. Hohohoho. Let me know if you have more questions!

Thanks for reading yall :)

  1. Great review. I have that Maybelline Baby Skin primer, yes i agree it doesn't work, with my super oily skin. I'm quite surprised that Nivea Men Post Shave Balm works really good as primer for oily skin, im gonna check the full review. And Benefit Porefessional are very well known for the great quality, seen so many great reviews and oftenly used by beauty gurus on YouTube. But it quite pricey for Malaysian price coz people definitely want to buy it more and more after they run out of it.
