First Impression / Review Using Items I Recently Purchased - Nov 2016

Assalamualaikum and hello Pah people!

So I have been buying makeup for the past few months but I haven't got the chance to try them on. Well, you know I have been busy or sometimes I forgot what I bought and today I finally have some time to try all of these new products so yeah.

Not all of them are new, some of them I purchased like months ago but I only used it like once or twice and I'm like why the heck not write a short review or whatever kan? Pffft. Okay. let's start.

Most of these items are drugstore, 1 item is in the affordable range and another 1 is a high end product.

So I'm going in order lah okay.

Full face photo & product swatches will be at the bottom of this page ok

1. Mac Studio Conceal and Correct Palette - Medium
Rating: Makeup Alley - 4.3/5

So recently I purchased this concealer palette by Mac because I want to use it on my clients. Mind you, I just used it today. So technically I just used this once. This is a creamy concealer palette. I am NC25 but I think I am between NC25 and NC30 because NC25 is too light but NC30 is a bit darker. This palette is Medium shade so you get NC30, NW25, NC35, NW35, Mid-Yellow and Mid-Peach. So if I wanted to use it myself, I need to mix the NC30 and a bit of the Mid-Yellow concealer. I can still use NC30 alone but it's a tad dark on my skintone but if I used it under my foundation, it wasn't that obvious.

I still haven't figure out how to use it properly and I think it covered my acne scars pretty damn good. Usually I have acne scars or red spots on my cheeks and I covered it using the shade NC30 in the palette and it was quite easy to blend. I used the Zoeva 142 Concealer Buffer brush, I buffed it into my skin and I used the Sephora Collection 10hr Perfect Foundation and that foundation has only light to medium coverage and I'm not sure if you can see it in the pic, my skin looked pretty flawless.

I used it under my eyes and since it is a creamy consistency, it was kinda hard to blend it using Beauty Blender. I don't know why, maybe I'm not using the right technique. But it still covers my dark under eyes circle... So I guess that's okay. Huhuh. I think what I should do when using this kind of concealer is to make sure I really moisturizer my under eyes using eyecream and whatnot.

I like this concealer palette. I just need to learn how to properly use it. LOL.

My rating: 4/5

Right (your left): No makeup, Left (your right): Got makeup but still can see the horrifying dark under eyes.

No more dark circles. Only bags. Sponsored by Gucci.

**I applied Mid-Yellow corrector, then NC30 on top. I felt like I need to brighten up the undereye area so I applied Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer in 51.

2. Catrice Prime and Fine Professional Contouring Palette in Ashy Radiance
Link: Guardian

Okay, for this item I have been using for the past 1 month now. This is available in 2 shades, one is a warm toned and another is a cool toned. I don't know why I bought the cool toned one maybe sebab aku perasan aku mat saleh ke apa ke but surprisingly it works on my skintone. It didn't look too ashy or too grey on my skin. I enjoy using it but I think if I had extra money to spend I would want to try the warm toned palette. Catrice's powders and pigmentations are superb. It is not too powdery, it's not too stiff. I really love it. Great stuff!

But the highlighting shade is a bit disappointing for me because it is like a sheen highlight. I applied it today on my browbones and my inner corners. It looks great on my browbones but not so much in my inner corners. In photo it looks okay but I just don't like it. I prefer "blinding" inner corners highlight ya know.

**I applied it on my creases and as nose and face contour but of course you can't really see em LOL

My rating: 3.5/5

3. Innisfree Auto Eyebrow Pencil - 05 Espresso Brown
Link: Innisfree

I have been using this brow pencil for almost 2 weeks now. I brought it in my bag because I always do my brows when I arrived at the office. I don't do my brows at home, kalau tak it will take all freaking morning kot.

Holy fricking crap, I'm not gonna lie this is one of my favorite brow pencils now. I do not like the shape but somehow it just, I don't know, did some magic on my brows and it didn't look too much if I heavy handed with it. Thank you @ieyrahm for recommending this gem. I cannot stop using it.

Down side, this pencil has only 0.3g and to compare with my holy grail eyebrow pencil, the Catrice Eyebrow Stylist has about 1.6g and they have the same price tag. But if I'm being honest here, I prefer the Innisfree one just because it is more long lasting and I don't have to sharp it. LOL. OBVI

My rating: 4/5

Sorry penuh muka sendiri je jangan menyampah please but look at my eyebrow tail tho

4. Essence Make Me Brow in Blondy Brows
Link: Essence
Rating: Makeup Alley - 4.3/5

This is a brow mascara and actually it is available in 2 shades. But heh, again, perasan mat saleh I don't know why I bought the Blonde shade. Hahahaha. Sebab masa tu pon that was the only shade yang ada dekat situ.

Anyways, it has a small applicator. It looks like the Benefit Gimme Brow. I never tried the Gimme Brow before but the brush looks pretty similar.

I have only used it a couple times but I kinda like it because whenever my brows are too much I just put this on top and it was like muting the over the top punya brows tu entah la tak reti nak explain macam mana but something like that lor. If I jumpa the darker shade, I'm gonna buy em of course!

My rating: 3/5

5. Catrice Treasure Trove Powder Blush in Caviar and Champagne
Link: Catrice

So this is a limited edition blush and I bought this only for RM7 something. Aku pun tak percaya masa aku bayaq hari tu. 7 bucks weh. Dah lah cantik. OMG

This blush is quite pigmented. It is peachy pink (kot?) and it has a bit of sheen in it. Not super glittery or shimmery so when you apply it on your skin, your face looks glowy ya know. I can see myself using this everyday. I only dabbed 2 times in the pan with my brush and holy crap this blush ain't playing. Even though it's pigmented, it was quite easy to blend. Like I said, Catrice's powders are high quality. The packaging itself is so nice and it looked high end. Holy crap not gonna lie, I really love this blush!

My rating: 4/5

Not sure if you could see the stars and whatnot. Takut nak pakai sebab cantik sangat 😨😨

6. Catrice Highlighting Eyeshadow in 1001 Golden Nights
Link: Guardian

Again, another unnecessary purchase. Hahaha.

So I was browsing online and I was like, highlighting eyeshadow? *click add to cart* This is basically an eyeshadow. Nothing special. It has a stiffer consistency but it looks like the Liquid Metal eyeshadow. Wet looking kinda metal eyeshadow ya know? So today I used it as my face highlight, cupid's bow, tip and bridge of my nose and my chin. As a face highlight, it definitely looked a bit over the top but maybe if I used it in my inner corners, I would have loved it even more. But I really like the wet look. This is totally one of the "blinding" kind of highlight. LOL

My rating: 3.5/5

7. Essence Forbidden Volume Mascara
Link: Essence

I'm not going into deep with it because I am writing a full review on it. So yeah watch out for that.

What's not to love? Essence mascaras are the bomb.

My rating: Rahsia

8. Polka Matteness Lip Lacquer in Maracass
Link: Polka

So I actually went to this Polka's soft launch in... August? Early August if I'm not mistaken. It was hosted by Romana. There were lots of famous bloggers/vloggers but I don't know any of them... LOL. Only recognized like one person but I made a few friends there so yeah. Hahaha.

Anyways, this Polka brand is from Indonesia. The liquid lipstick retails for RM59 (I think so). So I bought Maracass shade because it's not too over the top and I love nude shades so... Yeah.

Don't get me wrong, I think I mentioned this so many times before. I despise liquid lipsticks. I mean I don't hate them, I just prefer the classic bullet lipsticks ya know. And people said good things about this Polka Lip Lacquer so I was like, why don't I buy one lah yela konon macam token la entah la macam tu lah.

Anyways, as much as I wanted to like it I just don't. Personal preferences lah orang kata. It is a bit sticky (I think all lip lacquers are sticky) but it lasted quite long on me. It's pretty drying and it transfers a bit but it wasn't so bad like the Maybelline Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick, that's a fricking disaster. But I think maybe some people will love it? I don't know man. Maybe if you guys liked liquid lippies, you might love it? I don't know man.

Easy to apply, zup zup
