REVIEW
So as you all know, I have a bit pigmentation issues caused by our beloved star, The Sun. I rarely put on sunblocks/sunscreens because I never like the consistency and after so much research (wahh gitu padahal surf internet je), I decided to buy this Paula's Choice Resist Super-Light Wrinkle Defense SPF30.
I read few reviews online and most oily combination skin peeps loooove this sunblock. Well actually the product description is a lightly tinted mineral-based anti-aging moisturizer with SPF protection. Haaa kau. It's like everything is this product. It's a tinted moisturizer with SPF basically. LOL.
This product gets a 4.3 out of 5 rating on Makeup Alley. I know it's not super reliable but 4.3/5 from 100++ reviewers? That's pretty darn good.
I was lucky I got discounts when I bought it. It was only around RM120. Yep. I'm not kidding. That is why I decided to try it. You guys know kan I do not spend a fortune on skincare products because I'm afraid it won't suitable for my skintype ya know? If you're cheap like me and wanna try some stuff, please please go to wortheecosmetics.com . This is not a paid review, I really love their CS, their service is fricking awesome. Plus, they always have special offer every month so go ahead check em out!
To be completely honest when I first use this moisturizer/SPF, I did not like it at all. Let me tell ya something. Paula's Choice brand in Malaysia is not affordable at all. So I was like, so much ragrets ya know. But since it's pricey AF, I keep on using it until I figured out how to really apply it.
The application is of course as usual, but you just cannot use it too much. Can say that a little goes a long way. Texture wise, it is quite thick and slightly tinted but I'm not sure if it's medium to deep skintone friendly because it is quite pink. Even if I put it on my skin, I look paler. LOL.
The product is a bit uhmmm it's not sticky but you can feel it on your skin and on your fingers (if you applied it with fingers of course). It feels a bit powdery ? I don't know how to describe it but it's not like soft powdery, it's like powdery but sticky but it's not super sticky? I don't know man.
I wore this through out the day and usually I go pray after 2pm and I do look oily. But it's not like grease ball, still look okay lah. LOL. But I notice the oil was like coming thru my pores. I can see dots of oil on my nose. It's so weird. LOL
Has a slight pink in it
Since it is tinted, it has a pretty good coverage. Well, it is a VERY light coverage tinted moisturizer but it evens out my skintone pretty well. I can live and go outside with just using this product. I tried using this under makeup, can't say if it actually good or not because foundations that I use with it tends to get patchy when I blot my face. So if I wanna go bare face, I would use this only with Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation. I just dot the foundation onto my face, just a bit and blend it with my fingers. I know some people said you can't blend stuff with you fingers onto your sunblock but I just don't care aiusdjaskldjasld YEA I KNOW OKAY SUN, I KNOW
I haven't try mixing it with foundations but since it's technically a sunblock, I don't think you can do that. Afraid the ingredients might change? Correct me if I'm wrong.
The product claims that it has anti-aging properties and all of the good stuff, I can't really say it's true or not but I notice my skin didn't react badly and everytime I use this moisturizer/sunblock, I would have good skin week. I'm not shitting you guys. I rarely get breakouts while using it.
Like I said, I don't use sunblocks that much because they are soooo oily on my skin, eg Nutox Solar Block SPF45. Yeah, higher SPF would be a better sunblock but it is just super oily and I hate the sticky sunblock feeling. I cannot remember from which article, it mentioned that it's better if you use an SPF with moisturizing benefits, not moisturizer with SPF. Usually moisturizer with SPF has low SPF, lesser than SPF20. And sunblocks aren't that moisturizing, like the Nutox Solar Block, it just felt so not awesome on my skin but this Paula's Choice one, even though it is for oily combination skin, it still moisturizes my skin so maybe that's why my face didn't look like a grease ball at the end of the day.
Pros
Great ingredients
Has natural light coverage
Semi-matte finish
Perfect for oily combination skin
Moisturizing
Cons
Pricey AF
Not a universal tint, may not look good on some skintones
Final thoughts: Putting the price tag aside, I really enjoy using this product. I know they don't have physical stores here and you can't really feel the texture and stuff but if you are willing to spend a bit, I would recommend it only if you can't find a good sunblock or you find sunblocks heavy and oily on the skin. The Paula's Choice RESIST range has sunblock for dry skin as well so you might wanna check em out. Plus, Paula's Choice skincare has great ingredients and they're not tested on animals, free from harsh chemicals... So yeah. If you're into that, go check em out.
Would I repurchase? Maybe. See how long can it last... I've been using it on and off for the past 2 months... I'd say it's possible for me to repurchase it if it can lasts me more than 2 months.
Rating: ★★★★☆
So yeah. I guess that is all for tonight.
I hope you guys find this helpful in any way.
Thank you for reading.
Stay gorgeous. <3
